A healthy life tends to be a much happier life. Sadly, everyone will end up with some sort of health problem at some point. However, that’s not to say you can’t do everything within your power to ward off some of the most common and problematic health issues life throws at you. There are a few major health problems listed below, and I want to ask you one thing; are you really doing all you can to keep them at bay?
It may shock you to hear that heart disease is the number one killer of women in the US. The thing with this problem is that it’s entirely preventable. It’s not like some other health issues where you could get very unlucky and develop it. Heart disease usually comes from bad habits – particularly with regards to your nutrition and physical activity. To put it simply; eat better, exercise more, and don’t smoke/drink alcohol regularly. Make extra care to avoid foods high in cholesterol, and also try to keep your blood pressure low by relaxing more.
Cancer is obviously something everyone is terrified of getting. I won’t scare you with the statistics, but the percentage of people that get cancer is shockingly high. This is due to the many different varieties of it; from breast cancer to multiple myeloma (a type of blood cancer). Cancer can be deadly, but the good news is that technology and medical research has developed to the point where people are trying to treat multiple myeloma, breast cancer, and all other forms. Survival rates are on the up, but the best way to survive is to reduce your chances of getting it in the first place. A few ways you can do this are by protecting your skin when you go out in the sun, avoiding tobacco, drinking less alcohol, exercising regularly, eating raw and natural foods, and ensuring you get plenty of fruit in your system. These don’t guarantee you never get cancer, but they help reduce your chances exponentially.
Depression is something of a silent killer in many people. It’s easy to assume that all of the worst health problems in life are physical. However, there are mental health issues as well, and depression is perhaps the biggest and worst of them. When you have depression, it’s a lot more than being in a state of sadness. You can’t think properly, you can’t sleep, and you may develop other problems like anxiety, which can cause bad habits that increase your chances of various physical health problems. Warding off depression is no easy feat as it is a mental issue. But, the best thing you can do is be open about your mental health and talk to people. If you ever feel down or have emotions you’re bottling up, then talk to friends or family, and possibly even a therapist. It’s okay to not be okay; talk about your problems, and you’ll help them stay away.
So, are you doing all you can to prevent these health problems from ruining your life? I know it’s a sensitive topic, but when you have a family and people that love you, the worst thing you can do is ignore your health. Perhaps, after reading this, it helps you readjust your lifestyle and become a healthier, happier, individual!
