Avoiding Controversy in Your Blogging Career

Nowadays, blogging is an extremely viable career choice. However, to succeed, you need to draw attention to yourself in the right ways rather than the wrong ways. You don’t want to be known as the blogger who had to go bankrupt, or who collaborated with the wrong individuals. But not to worry. We’re here to help steer you in the right direction! Here are just a couple of steps that you can take to avoid these two potential disaster situations during your time as a professional blogger.

Borrow Responsibly

Blogging is by no means a cheap venture. You do have to invest a fair amount of money when it comes to setting up and launching your blog, and you will have to make regular investments to keep your web design and content up to date and interesting. It’s not surprising that many bloggers end up borrowing money to fund this process.

If you experience lulls in traffic or sponsored ads, you may also have to borrow money to tide yourself over through dry patches. But it is extremely important that you only engage with professional lenders offering competitive business loan rates. This will reduce the amount of money that you have to pay back in interest, reducing your chances of experiencing financial difficulties and potentially having to close your blog as a result.

Being Selective with Collaborations

Nowadays, many bloggers are collaborating with social media influencers in order to boost their exposure. Social media influencers are individuals with tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, or even millions of followers. If they promote your blog or refer to your blog in their feeds or videos, chances are that traffic to your page will boost significantly, as their followers flood in to see what all of the fuss is about. More traffic means more page views, and more page views mean more businesses will want to place their adverts on your blog, generating more income for you!

However, it is extremely important that you are selective when it comes to choosing social media influencers who you want to collaborate with. Not all individuals accrue followers for positive reasons. Some have followers due to the notoriety that you might not want to associate yourself with. So, don’t simply reach out to anyone with followers. Determine whether they received followers in a positive manner or not. If you are collaborating with someone who goes on to make controversial or offensive statements, ensure to cut ties with them immediately to avoid your brand being marred by them.

These are just two ways to avoid financial and public controversy if you intend to pursue a career in blogging. Keep them in the back of your mind at all times!
