We always hear people telling us that all we need is some fresh air and sunshine to clear our minds and make us feel better after a stressful week. But did you ever think that there’s more to the fresh air and the sun than just stress-busting?
Being outside in the open air can do more than simply carry our thoughts away, it can also be great for our overall health, and here are some of the reasons why the air and sun are so good for us.
Unless you are a redhead, your body won’t be equipped to produce its own supply of Vitamin D at any time. The sunlight increases our levels of Vitamin D in the body and this can help us stay healthy in several ways. The vitamin keeps our bones healthy and strong, helps to repair damaged muscles and also reduces our risk of diseases like osteoporosis and cancer.
Believe it or not, being out in the sun can actually help us to get over an illness or recover from an injury much faster than if we stayed indoors. There isn’t a solid explanation for this, however, it has been proven in several studies and is likely down to the reduced stress levels inside our bodies throughout the day.
If you hate exercise and the idea of the gym makes you shiver, then being outside in the sunshine might be the ideal case for you to move more. It stands to reason that when we are outside we are more likely to move around, and, any of us will play games, run around and swim on a sunny day. This provides us with the perfect exercise and it can be great for our health and fitness overall.
Wakes Up The Brain
If you are having one of those days when you are so bored that you can’t think of anything to do to get you out of your boredom, head into the garden or to your local park for a while. Fresh air is a great way to restart the brain and you will find that once you are outside you feel more alert and ready to tackle things once more. You won’t be bored anymore and you can enjoy the rest of your day.
Being outdoors can be a great way to socialize with people because it is open and you are all on neutral territory. If you are usually an introvert who shrugs off the invitation of a party, you’ll be more likely to meet up with people in an outdoor setting. It could be a trip to the beach, a local beer garden or even a barbecue at their house. Outdoor space is a winner.
It is important for us to get enough fresh air and sunshine in our lives because it can give us a better check of a longer lifespan. Even when you are inside your Home you should open the windows and think about when should you clean your air ducts to allow more air into the home. Fresh air clears away dust, dirt and bacteria so can keep us happier and healthier for a lot longer.
If you are going through a tough time in your life at the moment and you feel a little bit powerless to stop it taking over, you need to spend some time outside in nature and bring your good mood back where it should be. Many people suffer with Seasonal Affective Disorder which makes them feel more depressed when indoors or in the winter. Get out into the sunshine and you will notice a huge shift in your happiness and your willingness to try.
If you have a breathing condition such as asthma, living in the city and working in an industrial area can be bad for your lungs because there are pollutants in the air which can affect your ability to take a breath. If you do have an issue like this, make sure to try and get out into the countryside or by the coast once a week in order to keep your lungs happy and stay as healthy as you can possibly be.
Sometimes we get stuck in a rut with life and it feels as if nothing we do will be good enough to stop it. If you find yourself wondering what you want to do with your life and you feel as if you have no motivation to get up in the morning, spend some time in the great outdoors. Being out in nature can allow our brain to refresh and reset and this can be wonderful for our sense of motivation. It can be outdoors that you have a great idea and decide what you want to do with your life and you will find a sense of motivation coming from nowhere.
Ever found that you simply can’t continue your writing or painting? Creative block is a horrible thing and it grips a lot of us at one time or another. When you have this block it can feel impossible to move past it and you can be stuck in limbo for weeks with your work hanging in the balance. A great way to gain back some inspiration is to get outside and go for a walk in the park. The great outdoors can offer inspiration because of the vibrant colors, sights and smells you experience around you. If you start to think about your project you will soon find that ideas just come from nowhere and you will once again be able to continue your work.
The fresh air and sunshine are great for our mind, body, and soul. If you are in a fix this weekend on what to do, you should take the day out on the beach or in the countryside and truly enjoy your time outdoors. You’ll feel refreshed and ready to tackle your next week in no time.
